GDITC Lynette Anderson Swap

Had some quiet stitching time in my studio last night
and it was bliss, finished off my little swap gift
 for GDITC 2015....
A cute little stitchery from our tutor Lynette Anderson
that we could make into whatever we wanted to....
I made this little zippered number and
would love to keep it for myself...he he!
The flip side!
A little something popped inside....
I can't wait to see all the variations of this little stitchery...
Until next time, Happy Stitching....

Desktop Centre

Hello Blogland I hope you have all had a good week....
I wanted to show you a project that I worked on this week...
I picked this up at Spotlight the other day with a 40% off voucher
making it an affordable addition to my Studio....
I must have been having flat pack withdrawals
cause this was all the medicine I needed....
So many parts for such a little unit!
The little drawers are too cute.....
Here it is all assembled....I love it!
Plenty of spots for bits and pieces....
And a hanging rod for ribbons, tapes etc....
Perfect on the corner of my Sewing Bench....
I also got this little unit but it was already put together
and perfect to hold rolls of ric rac and ribbons....
They look great on the bench and make
me smile when I look at them...
Have a great weekend....
I hope you all find time to be a bit creative....

Until next time, Happy Stitching

A Heart Chalk Board.....

And this covered notebook made from French General
 fabrics and red work stitching.....
I LOVE how this one turned out and I hope Melanie does....

The main rule was to embroider Melanie's initial onto a heart...

It's so nice to be participating in some swaps again....

"Suze in The Studio"

Yay! I finally got to do some stitching in my Studio
 with my bestie Suze yesterday....
Here she is sitting at the cutting table....
Suze was busy working on her February stitch-a-long blocks..
Proudly displayed on my Design Wall....
I was just busy making a mess....ha ha!
And working on a little swap gift for GDITC in Nundle...
More of that later....
Sadly not much stitching was achieved because the shops took
up a lot of our day and perfecting the art of eating....ha ha.....
Suze is on her way home and I miss her already....

I hope you all enjoy your Sunday....

Until next time, Happy Stitching

Ikea Picture Shelves

I have a little collection of framed stitcheries that over the years I have stitched or my friends have stitched for me and was going to hang them in various positions in the studio. On our way home from 1 Direction last weekend Alison and I took a little detour to Ikea and I picked up a couple of picture shelves that I thought would be perfect for the space, only $14.99 each.....
I LOVE IKEA!!!!!
So last night I set about transforming
this drab wall above my day bed.....
Into this lovely display area for my stitcheries......
They are perfect because they don't jut out too far.....
3 holes with my drill, a bit of tweeking with my spirit level
and screw driver and they were up in no time....
Perfect and with space to add just a few more pretties....
I would have loved them to go all the way across but I am
going to put a small television in the corner eventually....
I will need some contact with the outside world when I become
a recluse and lock myself in there Forever!!!! Ha Ha Ha
My perfect space waiting for my bestie Suze to
arrive from Cobar later this afternoon....
Don't try to contact us tomorrow because we
will be stitching the day away....Yay!
Until next time, Happy Stitching

First Stitching Night

My friend Alison and I had our first Stitching Night in
my little "Studio" on Wednesday night....
Started off with a toast, and that was the end of me for sewing..
Gotta have my wits about me when using pins and scissors...
Lots of fun working out my selfie stick for a snap shot on
the daybed, many attempts until we found a presentable one...
Ha Ha Ha much laughter was occurring here....
Alison worked on her sewing bag from last years GDITC....
No pics of that though as I was busy packing things away
into my sewing bench drawers and keeping Ali on track....
Yum Yum Plum and Almond Pie for Supper...
Off to Sydney today to see 1Direction tonight.....
Yes you heard me right....1D!

Looking forward to a whole day stitching in the Studio
next weekend with a special visitor....Yay!

Until next time, Happy Stitching

Now it's Really Done!!!!

Look what arrived at my house today, I was lucky to be able to get it picked up by a friend of a friend coming from Dubbo to Orange so of cause tonight when I finished work I set about putting my last flat pack unit together....
Glued, Screwed, Hammered and together in no time at all...
A quick selfie before taking it out to the Studio :)
And Ta dah! there it is tucked into its new home, doubling
as storage and support for the corner of the bench....

NOW IT"S REALLY FINISHED!!!!!
I have a friend coming over to play on Wednesday Night...

Until next time, Happy Stitching

A few finishes and a Bum Plum

Here I am again with the final touches to my corner sewing
bench, first up this was to put these white
knobs on the drawers. They are far more user friendly than
the original ones. That little corner spot will be another
open shelf unit when my last flat pack arrives next week.....
Next job was to install 2 of these for the cords to go through...
I had 4 drill bits for holes and of cause the largest one was not
quite large enough so off I went to Bunnings to get one....
Who'd of thought they would be so expensive....$30 for one!!!
Luckily I tend to shop around and
found this set at Mitre 10 for $10...Bargain
We have Spotlight in Orange these days and it happens to be
right next door to Bunnings, I popped in there for some
ric rac for a project I am working on and left with a pack each
of ribbons, twine, ric rac and washi tapes....
RRP well over $80 and I only paid $36 for the lot...
Gotta love a good baragin :)
Could've bought more but got outa there as quick as I could....

Then it was home to put my drill bits to work....
Marked where I wanted the first hole....
Taped to try and reduce splintering of the melamine....
And drilled to my hearts content....
I love it when things just work...
And there we have it, a perfect hole....
Popped in the plastic duct unit...
Yay! Looking Good!
Repeated the process for my Sewing Machine.....
So minus the corner shelf unit at this stage the rest is
finished and ready for a long overdue sewing session....
I picked this support leg up at Ikea last week so set
about installing it under the middle of my
cutting table for a bit of extra support....
It was very simple to do, just 5 screws and an
adjustment of height and it is ready to go....
I also added some wheels to the bottom of this old crate to
make some mobile magazine storage....
Perfect for my Country Style Magazine Collection!
This bare wall is calling for some type of shelving/storage
but the jury is still out as to what I'll do there ...
I ended my afternoon at a friends house picking
plums from her overflowing tree...
I just had to share this pic with you, I'm thinking Mother Nature
was thinking of Kim Kardashian's bum when she threw
this one into the mix....Ha Ha Ha!
I won't be doing anything with these tonight because pardon
the pun but I am "plum" tuckered out!!!!
Thanks for stopping by and thanks for sharing in the process
that is setting up my sewing studio, it means a lot to me that
I can share and hopefully inspire you to have
a go at a bit of DIY yourselves...
I am loving it and surprising myself every day....

Its off to bed for me now as it's been a big weekend,
I will post this in the morning. Have a great week!

Until next time, Happy Stitching
